This day provides a great opportunity for the scientific and education communities to promote knowledge and understanding of genetics to young people.
Nowgen - A Centre for Genetics in Healthcare is working with the British Society for Human Genetics (BSHG) to promote a DNA Day essay competition to teachers and students in the UK. The competition is being held by the European Society for Human Genetics (ESHG) for the second year running. Winners and runners-up will receive a cash prize of up to 300 Euros, and their teachers will be rewarded with up to 1000 Euros to spend on a science project or buying classroom equipment.
The deadline for entries is 25 April 2009, with winners announced in May. For further information please visit www.dnaday.eu where there are full instructions about submitting essays.
Good Luck and do let us at the Milton Keynes Science Festival know how you get on
