Dr Tony Hirst is a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence from the Open University's Faculty of Technology. A co-founder of the OU Robotics Outreach Group in 2001, he regularly runs hands-on robotics activities across the UK, from Robot Fashion Shows to Robot Amusement Parks. When not playing with robots and other creative technologies, he is actively engaged with promoting the use of web technologies in Higher Education, as well as looking after the Open University introductory short course T184 Robotics and the Meaning of Life: A Practical Guide to Things That Think.
