Jennie PerkinsJennie Perkins is a research student at the Earth Science Department at the Open University.
Jennie is using the chemistry of ancient foramifera (microscopic sea creatures) to tell us about how the climate changed in the past. "When people think of fossils they generally think of dinosaurs, but there are lots of very, very small fossils out there which can tell us more about past climates than a Tyrannosaurus Rex - it just goes to show size really doesn't matter!""
She is involved in outreach projects for the Open University, taking rocks, fossils and microscopes into schools, teaching kids how the Earth works through hands on activities. She will be sharing her rocks at the Milton Keynes Science Festival as well as other hands on demonstrations, such as an exploding volcano and rock races.
