Jerry Stone is a freelance presenter on astronomy and space exploration and has promoted space for almost 40 years. He presents public lectures and workshops for schools on space and astronomy.

He is a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society and the Royal Astronomical Society, Chairman of the Space Education Council and a Director of the Mars Society UK.

In June 2004 he set up "UK For Aurora", a campaign to increase public awareness and support for UK involvement in this long-term European Space Agency (ESA) programme. In October 2004, when Lord Sainsbury announced a £5million interim payment for the project, he cited public support from the campaign as being a contributing factor towards the decision.
