Associate Dean, Research and Knowledge Transfer at The University of Northampton

After graduating with a BSc and PhD in Microbiology from Cardiff University, Professor Phillips carried out post doctorial research at Sussex University and the Career Research Institute. She worked for several years in a NHS pathology laboratory. Coming to The University as a lecturer in 1990, she is now Associate Dean with responsibility for Research and Knowledge Transfer.

Her main research interest is the survival of food pathogens particularly Arcobacter butzleri and Campylobacter jejuni, in the environment and on food. Another research interest is level food spoilage organisms and the effect of preservatives on their growth and survival.
